How Shipping Charges Are Calculated on Thotfy
Thotfy allows sellers to configure shipping charges in multiple ways. Shipping can be charged per order, per product, or waived entirely using free shipping options.
This article explains how shipping charges are calculated and the two ways free shipping can be applied.
Shipping Charge Types
Shipping charges on Thotfy can be set at two levels:
- Price per order
- Price per product
If both are set, the final shipping amount is calculated as:
Total Shipping = Price per Order + Price per Product(s)
Price per Order
The price per order is a fixed shipping charge applied once per order, regardless of how many products are included.
How to set it
Go to:
Dashboard → Fulfilment → Shipping Charges → Price per Order
Example
- Price per order: ₹50
- Customer buys 1 or more products → Shipping = ₹50
Price per Product
The price per product is a shipping charge applied to each product in the order. Each product can have a different shipping price.
How to set it
Go to:
Catalog → Products → Add or Edit Product → Shipping Price
Example
- Product A shipping: ₹30
- Product B shipping: ₹20
- Both products in one order → Product shipping total = ₹50
How Shipping Is Calculated
When both charges are set:
Total Shipping = Price per Order + Sum of Shipping Prices of All Products
Example
- Price per order: ₹40
- Product shipping total: ₹50
- Total shipping charged at checkout: ₹90
Free Shipping Options
Thotfy supports two different free shipping methods. Either method will result in zero shipping charges for the customer.
1. Free Shipping Threshold (Order Value Based)
You can offer free shipping when the order total reaches a specific value.
How to set it
Go to:
Dashboard → Fulfilment → Shipping Charges → Free Shipping Threshold
Enter the minimum order value required for free shipping.
Example
- Free shipping threshold: ₹999
- Order total = ₹1,050
- Shipping charged at checkout: ₹0
When this condition is met, all shipping charges are waived, including price per order and price per product.
2. Free Shipping by Setting Shipping Values to Zero
An order is also considered free shipping when no shipping charges are configured.
This applies when:
- Price per order = ₹0
- All product shipping prices = ₹0 (explicitly )
In this case, customers will automatically see free shipping at checkout.
Example
- Price per order: ₹0
- Product shipping prices: ₹0
- Shipping charged at checkout: ₹0
Shipping Charge Summary
- Price per order is charged once per order
- Price per product is charged for each product.
- Final shipping is the sum of both charges.
- Free shipping applies when:
- The order meets the free shipping threshold, or
- No shipping charges are set (all values are zero).
